Member of the month – Gretchen Smith

Gretchen is one of the cutest and most humble person we know. She has a big and pure heart. She is always in a good mood! You can mostly see Gretchen joining our classes with her better half – Greg. We can always see her spreading her big smile, good energy, and kind words around.

We are so proud of the big progress you made since you joined CrossFit Wädenswil and we are truly blessed to see your happiness after accomplishing every workout.

  1. What do you like the most about CrossFit Wädenswil that keeps you coming back?
    The CrossFit community and coaches keep me coming back. Every time I enter the box, I feel like I am „home“. I am always met with a smile, fist bump and positive energy. I also love that each workout is different. This keeps me interested and motivated to do better and better.
  2. Who inspires you the most?
    There are so many people who inspire me daily, but over the years, my better half Greg has been a huge inspiration to me. He is the adventurous one who moves us to other countries, encourages us to try new things, like CrossFit, and generally loves to experience life without fear or worry. Without his daily inspiration, I would lead a very boring life. 🙂
  3. Which song always gets you in a good mood?
    I love 90’s Hip Hop. Yes, I am old and yes it reminds me of being young.
  4. If you would have to describe CrossFit Wädenswil to a stranger, what would you say?
    CrossFit Wädenswil is not just a gym. It is the most fun workout you will ever do in your life. It is a place filled with great energy, positive people and everyone is able to work at their own pace. You can be a powerhouse with weights or just working with the PVC bar. It doesn’t matter. The coaches see you for who you are and want you to improve. There is always someone there to cheer you on. You will leave each class feeling proud of yourself because progress is possible each day.
  5. Which are 3 things you miss the most about America?
    Family, chats with strangers, and family.
  6. Where is the place in the world which you dream the most of going to?
    I have always wanted to go to Maledives or other islands to snorkel and scuba dive. 
  7. What is a small act of kindness you were once shown that you will never forget?
    I am so thankful for daily acts of kindness, it is so hard to pick just one. When I was a new mom, with a baby that was crying a lot, a stranger just walked by me in the store, patted me on the shoulder, and told me I was doing a great job! I only hope that I am able to pass little acts of kindness onto others. I needed that act of kindness more than anyone could have known. 
  8. If you could get rid of one CrossFit movement, which one would it be?
    Box jumps continue to be my crux. Good bye box jumps.
  9. If you could have any superpower in the world, what would it be and why?
    I would love to be able to speak and understand every language in the world. Communication is so important for helping me to feel at home and learning languages is difficult for me!
  10. Tell us something about you that we might not know… 🙂
    I was a competitive swimmer from age 5-18. My best events were 200-meter butterfly and 1500m freestyle. I still love to swim if anyone is up to join me, I am always looking for a swimming partner.
